PARCC Certification Facts
The PARCC, or Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Career test, was developed based on the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). These standards stipulate the specific skills that students of different grade levels must accomplish and the PARCC exam is designed to assess these skills.
The PARCC examinations are computer based and are developed to test students between grade 3 and 11 in the English Language/ Arts and Mathematics. The English Language/ Arts aims to assess the candidates’ writing skills as well as their critical thinking abilities. In the mathematics section, the students are assessed based on their ability to solve specific problems.
The objective of creating the PARCC test is to provide precise and definite recognition of low level performing students in the school with the aim of helping them do better in their education and career.
The exam is basically subdivided into four different levels: Diagnostics, Performance Based Assessment, End of Year Assessment, and Speaking and Listening, which are taken at different periods within the year.
